One way to imagine mindfulness is to think of your mind as the surface of the ocean. There are constant waves on the water churned up by the wind that come and go in different intensities and direction, just as the wind of challenge and stress varies in our lives. Those are the winds that stir up waves in our minds. Sometimes they’re big, sometimes they’re small, and sometimes they’re almost unnoticeable, but they are waves nonetheless. And you can’t stop them… But you can learn to surf!
